Alexis Zayas, Associate

Alexis “Ali” Zayas has spent the majority of her legal career working on regulatory and administrative law issues for the federal government, with an emphasis in communications law and consumer protection. She joined Broadband Legal Strategies as an associate in January 2019.

Ali began her legal career clerking at the Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges in Washington, D.C. As a clerk, Ali was involved with various proceedings pending before administrative law judges including cases arising under the Black Lung Act, whistleblower statutes, and numerous other labor-related statutes.

After completing her clerkship, Ali joined the Federal Communications Commission through the Attorney Honors Program. While at the Commission, Ali worked in the Media Bureau where she focused on competition and policy matters concerning cable and media regulations.

Additionally, during her time at the Commission, Ali was a member of the transaction teams reviewing the merger of AT&T-DIRECTV and the merger of Charter-Time Warner. Ali also helped coordinate the Commission’s agency-wide internship program, working with management in the Commission’s bureaus and offices.

Most recently, Ali served as the Staff Director for the Office of Administrative Adjudication at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In that role, Ali was responsible for overseeing the Bureau’s Administrative Adjudication program, working with the Bureau’s administrative law judges and staff.
